Top Price of €4650 at Simmental Tullamore Sale
The Overall Male Champion went to Seamus Aherne, Cappamore. Co. Limerick with Towerhill Emmett a December 2013 born bull sired by his stockbull Celtic Benny and out of a Hillcrest Jerome dam Towerhill Treasure. The Judge Catherine Farrell was the purchaser for her Heather-View herd at €4000.
The Reserve Champion and top bull price of the day went to Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise with Clonagh F Super Star. This March 2014 born bull is sired by Banwy T-Rex and is out of a Raceview King dam Milton Seabank. Charles Colthurst, Blarney, Co. Cork was the purchaser at €4250.
Selling at €2950 was Lot 12 Clonagh Flash Gordon again exhibited by Garrett Behan. Another Banwy T-Rex sired bull and this time out of a Monaduff Legend dam Clonagh Brumble Legend, this bull was purchased by Ivan Kidd from Bagnelstown, Co. Carlow.
Bryan McCann from Maynooth, Co. Kildare purchased Clonagh Ebony Dancer ET at €2800. Born in December 2013 this Banwy T-Rex bull was again sired by Raceview Dam Jennalyn Scarlet ET and was exhibited by Garrett Behan.
New exhibitors Stephen & Jack Saunders from Cullohill, Co. Laois took home €2650 for their Kilbride Farm Newry sired bull Viscount First Choice. Born in February 2014 this bull is out of Seaview Bliss by Raceview King and was purchased by John Pollock, Castletown, Navan, Co. Meath.
Hitting the €2550 mark was Mohona Frank exhibited by Gordon Salter, Dunmanway, Co. Cork. The buyer of this 14 month old bull sired by Kilbride Farm Bantry and who was out of a Hillcrest Randy dam Mohona Vanity was John Flattery, Clara. Co. Offaly.
€2500 was the selling price for Grianan Firepower exhibited by Anselm Fitzgerald, Mount Temple, Moate. Ian Lazenby from Gorey, Co. Wexford purchased this March 2014 bull who is sired by Dermody Butcher and out of a Kilbride Farm Newry dam Raceview Bounty Royal.
In the Female Section the Overall Champion went to Lyndsey Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise with Jennalyn Flora Nora. The youngest heifer in the catalogue at 11 months old Flora Nora is sired by Banwy T-Rex and is out of a Ballybane Henry dam Ballybane Nora. This heifer was purchased by Martin Sheridan, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan at €3200.
The Reserve Champion and highest priced animal of the day at €4650 went to Ray Bracken, Daingean, Tullamore with Cruithill Ebba. At just 16 months this Curaheen Wakeman sired heifer is out of a Cruithill Volcano dam Cruithill Ace and was purchased by Eamon Greene, Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary.
Selling at €3000 was Lisnacrann Elderberry for Michael Oliver, Swinford, Co. Mayo. Born in October 2013 Elderberry who was purchased by a repeat customer is sired by Hillcrest Slyvester and out of an Anatrim Jacob Dam Kilcloran Winnie.
The Final Simmental Sale of the season will take place at Roscommon on Friday evening May 15th. Included in this sale will be a selection of Simmental X breeding heifers.
