Bull average up €640 at Simmental Premier Sale and New Bull for NCBC

The Autumn  Premier Simmental Sale at Roscommon saw a keen demand for the quality bulls and heifers on offer leading to a high clearance.

Top price of the day went to the National Yearling reserve champion “Curaheen Apostle ET” exhibited by David Wall, Newcastle, Co. Dublin. The National Cattle Breeding Centre paid €9200 to secure this September `09 bull sired by the Canadian Bull “South Seven Razzmatazz 7R”

The National Yearling Champion “Raceview All-Star KK ET” was exhibited by Peter & Marion O`Connell, Mallow, Co. Cork. This “Raceview King” bull was bought by Hector McCaskill for the Woodhall Herd in Scotland for second highest price of the day at €8000.

Overall in the bull section there was a 71% clearance with an average price of €2970 which was up €640 on 2009. Other notable prices included:

  • €4000 to James & David Wall Newcastle, Dublin for “Auroch Amos ET” a “Dirnanean Jacob” bull from Richard Rogers, Portglenone, Co. Antrim.
  • €4000 to Garrett Behan Ballyfin, Portlaoise for a “Banwy T-Rex” bull “Clonagh Awesome Truly” from Willie Dorgan, Mallow, Co. Cork.
  • €4000 to William & Jenny Cotter, Dripsey, Co. Cork for a “Camus Vibrant” son “Dripsey Brandon ET” from John Carroll, Tralee, Co. Kerry
  • €3900 to John Finegan, Coachford, Co. Cork for “Leeherd Andy” an “Anatrim Val” bull from James McVitty, Newtownbuttler, Co. Fermanagh.
  • €3600 to Peter & Marion O`Connell, Mallow, Co. Cork for a “Cairnview Snazzy” bull “Raceview Alfie” from Raymond Wallace Enniskellen, Co. Fermanagh.
  • €3500 to Michael McDonagh Tynagh, Loughrea, Co. Galway for “Tynagh Adam” a bull by “Celtic Rock” from Canice McIntyre Coleraine, Co. Derry
  • €3300 to Anselm Fitzgerald Moate, Co. Westmeath for “Grianan Ambasador” a bull by “Banwy T-Rex” from Jonathan Sutton, Bray, Co. Wicklow.
  • €3100 to Lyndsey Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise for “Jennalyn All Star ET”  a “Banwy T-Rex” sired bull from John Bates, Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford.
  • €3000 to Noel Woods, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan for a “Milton Lord Tiffany” bull “Brookwood Admiral ET” from Brendan McWilliams Omagh, Co. Tyrone.

 

In the heifer section a large entry of 58 heifers saw keen demand resulting in a clearance of 88% and an average price of  €2540.

Top heifer price of €6200 went to the Senior Champion “Luddenmore Willow” exhibited by Michael Sheehan Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. This in-calf “Raceview King” is due in January to “Samark Superman”.

Second highest heifer price went to Lyndsey Behan Ballyfin, Portlaoise for the Yearling Heifer Champion “Jennalyn Anora”. This heifer was sired by “Banwy T-Rex” and was sold to Ian & Julie Turvey, Norfolk, Elgland for €5200.

The Junior Heifer Champion was exhibited by Joe McGarry Longford. “Clonguish Annabel” was sired by “Raceview King” and sold to Davis Farms Prembrokeshire, Wales for €4700.

The Weanling heifer Champion “Cruithill Bindy” was shown by Raymond Bracken, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Mary O`Halloran Cahir, Co. Tipperary purchased this “Curaheen Wakeman” sired heifer for €4000.

  • €5000 to Peter & Marion O`Connell Mallow for a “Samark Superman” heifer from Christopher White Dermotstown, Co. Dublin.
  • €4100 to John Stone, Bandon, Co. Cork for a “Banwy T-Rex” heifer from John McMordie Newtownards, Co. Tyrone.
  • €3700 to James Campion Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois for a “Milton Lord Tiffany” from Liam Lynch Mountmellick, Co. Laois.
  • €3300 to Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise for a “Monaduff Legend” sired heifer from Wesley Abraham, Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh.
  • €3100 to Lyndsey Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise for a “Banwy T-Rex” sired heifer from Colm McDonald Armoy, Co. Antrim.
  • €3100 to Peter & Marion O`Connell Mallow for a heifer by “Camus Vibrant” from Thomas Cormican Kinvara, Co. Galway.
  • €3000 to John Stone, Bandon, Co. Cork for a “Salisbury Challanger” heifer from Noel Duffy Benburb, Co. Tyrone.
