Ballymote Simmental X Heifer Sale Report
The Simmental x Breeding Heifer Sale was held at Aurivo Mart Ballymote Co Sligo on Saturday last 02/10/21.
There was a large selection of heifers for sale on the day .There was both ringside and on line buying.There were buyers from many counties plus plenty of local buyers in attendance. 53 of the heifers were exported to NI.
The In Calf heifers sold up to €2570, this price was achieved by Gerry Lenehan for a heifer that’s due to calf to A.I.bull SI4250 in October .Michael Crean was the purchaser.
There was a 84% clearance rate in the in calf section.
Gerry Lenehan received the Arthur Dillon Cup which is given to the owner of the highest priced animal in the sale.
Clare Healy from Lissaneeny Sooey Co Sligo and Gerry Lenehan Rathlee Easkey both received €2050 for their heifers.The heifers weighed 605kg and 655kg respectively and were purchased by Colin Callan Co Monaghan and Paul Cryan Keash Ballymote.
The highest priced heifer per kilo weighed 480kg and sold for €1800(€3.75per kilo ).
She was purchased by Michael Greally Co Longford,the clearance rate for the maiden heifers was 83%.
In the weanling section 30 of the 37 heifers on offer sold .The highest priced weanling sold for €1340 and she weighed 350kg (€3.83per kilo)
This heifer was owned by Tommy Murphy Castletown Cross Claremorris Co Mayo and was purchased by Michael Glennon Ballydangan Athlone .From last year the weanlings were up by €20 a head
