High of €8200 for Champion Bull.

In the bull section, the Overall Champion went to a 12 month old bull ‘Rabawn Ernie’ exhibited by John Brady, Swinford, Co. Mayo. This stylish “Curaheen Tyson” bull is out of a homebred “Samark Superman” dam “Rabawn Bliss”. The Sale Judge, Joe Wilson, from Newry, Co. Down fought off competition, firstly from a Pedigree Breeder and finally from a commercial suckler farmer to add this young bull to his “Ballinalare Farm Pedigree Herd”.

The Reserve Champion went to Lyndsey Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, Co. Laois with ‘Jennalyn Dirty Dancer ET’, a December `12 born “Banwy T-Rex” son out of a “Raceview King” cow “Jennalyn Scarlet ET”. This bull was purchased by Dairy Farmer Pat Lane from Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick at €3000.

Hitting the €3200 mark was the youngest bull in the sale ‘Auroch Emu ET’ exhibited by James & David Wall, Newcastle, Co. Dublin. Born May `13 and sired by “Auroch Ace ET” out of a “Derrycallaghan Hamilton” dam “Glebefarm Vicky”, John Harrington from Bantry, Co. Cork was the purchaser.

John Finnegan, Nadrid, Coachford, Co. Cork received €2500 for Lot 3 in the catalogue ‘Leeherd Dempsey’ from Barry Muldowney, Grovine, Co. Kilkenny. This “Kilbride Farm Newry” bull was born in November `12 and is out of a “Lackabawm Aly” dam “Leeherd Nadrid”.

Overall in the bull section there was an average price of €2988 with prices ranging from €1900 to €8200.

In the Female Section the Overall Champion went to Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise with ‘Clonagh Emerald Ruby Star’, a January `13 born heifer sired by “Banwy T-Rex” and out of a “Dirnanean Jacob” dam “Cloneygowan Ruby Star”. This heifer did not reach her reserve and was unsold.

The Reserve Champion ‘Mohona Edel’ was exhibited by Gordan Salter, Mohona, Dunmanway, Co. Cork. Born in January `13 this heifer was sired by “Drumlone Anchor” and is out of an “Omorga Volvo” dam “Carbery Bryan”. Aonghus Foley, Granagh, Co. Cork purchased this Lot at €2100.

Top Heifer Price of the day at €2850 was paid for Lot 62 ‘Clonagh Emily’ exhibited by Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise and purchased by David Hazelton, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. Sired by “Clonagh Wonder Boy” this class winner is out of a “Banwy T-Rex” dam “Clonagh Aine”.

Also selling at €2100 was the youngest heifer catalogued ‘Cruithill Enfield’ exhibited by Ray Bracken, Daingean, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Catherine O`Connell, Banagher, Co. Offaly purchased this “Curaheen Wakeman” heifer who is out of a “Hillcrest Butcher” dam “Monaduff Raven”.

The average price for heifers was €1870 ranging from €1500 to €2850.
