Strong Trade for Simmental at Tullamore
At the last Simmental Society sale of the Season, demand for quality bulls was very strong resulting in an average price increase of €350 to €2450 on the last Tullamore sale.
The overall Champion "Clonagh Topper" was exhibited by Garrett Behan, Ballyfin. Sired by "Dirnanean Jacob" the champion sold for the top price of €4050. Next highest price of €4000 went to Ray Bracken, Tullamore for a "Hillcrest Jerome" sired bull. Other notable prices included:
- Garrett Behan, Ballyfin €3200 for a bull by "Omorga Prince".
- Peter & Marion O`Connell, Mallow, €3400 & €2900 for two sons of "Raceview Nigel".
- Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, €2750 for a "Ballyduff Jeweller" bull
- Joe Brady, Cootehill €2550 for a son of "Drumnagar Nuggett".
In the Female section there was a 93% clearance with prices ranging from €1500 to €2500. Top price of €2500 went to Tom Donohue of Rockcorry Co. Monaghan for a 15 month old "Hillcrest King" heifer. Overall champion also went to Garrett Behan went a "Freighduff Brendan" heifer which was sold for €1900.
