75 % Clearance at Simmental Premier Sale
At Saturday's Simmental sale at Roscommon, there was a steady commercial trade for bulls with a 75% clearance. Top price of €3750 went to Joe McGarry, Newtownforbes, Co. Longford for a 12-month old "Dirnanean Jacob" sired bull.
An average price of €2400 was achieved without the Champion and reserve being sold at €3200 and €3650 respectively. The Champion bull also by "Dirnanean Jacob" was exhibited by Garrett Behan, Portlaoise, while Brian Boyle from Dundalk showed the reserve by "Raceview Nevill" Other prices included:
- Adrian Bateman, Riverstick Co. Cork - €3200 for a "Raceview King" son.
- Denis O`Halloran, Tulla Co. Clare - €3100 for a "Hillcrest Naughty" son.
- John Connaughton, Dysart, Mullingar - €3050 for a "Wick" son.
- Paul Coyne, Tuam Co. Galway - €3000 for a "Milton Lord Tiffany" son.
In the female section, the small number of offer was reflected in the demand with a 60% clearance. Top price went to Gearoid Mulligan €2600, for a maiden heifer sired by "Camus Frontier". The Champion went to new breeder Ray Bracken from Daingean, Tullamore with a "Monaduff Jewell" sired heifer. This 15-month-old heifer was sold for €1900. Michael Scott from Ballinalsoe got the second highest price of €2500 for a 13-month-old "Hillcrest Naughty heifer".
